Conference play resumes tonight for the Washington Demon volleyball team (1-15 overall). The Demons, fresh off their first match win of the season, will entertain the Keokuk Chiefs (1-17 overall). Keokuk’s only victory came against Washington on September 1, upending the Demons in four sets (21-25, 30-28, 26-24, 25-16).

Washington got their first victory of the season during the Hawks Varsity Tournament Saturday at Mid-Prairie High School. The Demons, who opened the season in a straight set loss to Mid-Prairie, won the rematch over the Golden Hawks in straight sets (21-19, 21-11). Mid-Prairie was without top hitter Jaedynn Evans, who tallied 15 kills in the straight set victory against Washington (25-6, 25-17, 25-16) on August 25.

The Chiefs have lost 15 matches since their win over Washington. A pair of underclassmen leads Keokuk in kills. Freshman Isabel Vandenberg has tallied a team-high 32 kills, while sophomore Abby Arrowood has recorded 31. Jakala Hall has assisted on a team-best 64 points, and Michaela Davis leads the Chiefs with 164 digs.

The varsity match is set to serve at 7 p.m. at Washington High School.
