Three area football teams are ranked in the top 10. The Washington Demons (Class 3A), the Sigourney/Keota Cobras (Class 1A), and the Lone Tree Lions (8-Man) are all undefeated and their placement in the rankings varies depending on what poll you look at.

Washington continues to be the Des Moines Register’s No. 1 team in Class 3A football. The Demons have received the No. 2 ranking by Radio Iowa, behind Cedar Rapids Xavier. Washington fell one spot in this week’s AP poll, coming in at No. 4. The Demons host the Solon Spartans (2-1 overall) this Friday in the school’s annual Heroes Night game.

The Sigourney/Keota Cobras are getting some attention after starting their season 3-0 overall. The Cobras find themselves as the No. 10 team in Radio Iowa’s Class 1A rankings. Sigourney/Keota is ranked No. 11 this week in the Class 1A AP football poll. The Cobras face the top ranked Regina Regals (2-1 overall) this Friday in Iowa City.

The Lone Tree Lions continue to be the top scoring team in the state. Radio Iowa kept Lone Tree as the No. 5 team in their 8-man football poll. The Lions moved up two spots in the latest AP poll, ranking No. 5. The Des Moines Register recognized the Lions as their sixth-best 8-man football team. Lone Tree hosts the English Valleys Bears (0-3) this Friday for their annual homecoming game.
