A Washington woman noticed a suspicious vehicle near her residence in Washington overnight Thursday, and notified police. The Washington Police Department responded to the 1000 block of East 3rd Street and found the vehicle was stolen out of Ottumwa. Two men were arrested in the case.

Twenty-one-year-old William Braxton McCarroll of Ottumwa was charged with operating without the owner’s consent. McCarroll was also wanted for escape from the Ottumwa residential facility on original charges of theft in the first and second degree. Also, 20-year-old Logan Neil Swanson of Ottumwa was arrested for operating without the owner’s consent. Swanson was also wanted for escape from the Ottumwa residential facility with his original charge being theft in the second degree. Swanson was also wanted out of Jefferson County and by the Ottumwa Police Department for probation violation for ongoing criminal conduct, theft in the first degree, criminal mischief, forgery and burglary in the third degree.

Both men are being held at the Washington County Jail.
