Iowa’s soybeans are six days ahead of last year with 94% blooming and 79% setting pods. According to the most recent crop progress and condition report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in southeast Iowa, 91% of the crop is blooming and 61% are setting pods. Across the state soybeans are rated at 14% fair, 58% good and 24% excellent.

Also, topsoil moisture in the state is rated at 11% short, 83% adequate and 5% surplus; while subsoil moisture is 10% short, 83% adequate and 5% surplus. Southeast and south central Iowa reported the lowest levels of subsoil moisture with over a quarter short to very short.
