Iowa’s corn crop is ahead of the five-year average and is mostly good to excellent, despite some damage reports caused by high wind and hail last week. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s weekly report, 67% of corn has reached the silking state across Iowa. In southeast Iowa, 76% of corn is silking, while at this time last year 45% was silking. Corn condition is currently rated at 23% excellent, 58% good, 15% fair and three percent poor.
