If you’ve driven on Highway 1 north of Kalona recently, you may have noticed something missing. Two weeks ago, the two stainless steel silos in front of the Kalona Creamery were removed. The space will now be used for a news shop and deli which will open in the fall. Now, the Open Gates Business Development Corporation, which Kalona Creamery is a part of, has decided to launch the “Kalona Creamery Landmark Quest.” From now until July 15th, local residents can submit their ideas for a new landmark to put on the Highway 1 corner. The winner of the contest will be announced on August 1st and will receive a free Kalona Creamery t-shirt. For contest details and rules, visit kalonacreamery.com.
