On Tuesday, the people of Washington County spoke, and incumbents prevailed. In the two contested races for County Board of Supervisors, Bob Yoder defeated Stephanie Schlabaugh 330 votes to 178 in district two, and Stan Stoops defeated Robert Shepherd 394 votes to 219 in district four. Yoder can now focus on the next four years since he has no opponent on the Democrat side. He said he’ll work to maintain the county’s road infrastructure, as well as recruiting more economic development. Additionally, he promises to continue looking at utilizing county buildings more efficiently.

Stoops will run against Democrat Kimberly Davis in November’s general election. He said nothing will be taken for granted but he will accept what the people decide, and he’s going to stick to his platform of representing the wishes of the majority. Davis, as well as Jack Seward in district one, ran unopposed in the primary and received their party’s nominations.
