The Mid-Prairie baseball team split a road River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Tipton Tigers Monday night. In game one, the Tigers scored twice in the first but Mid-Prairie put the next five on the board.

Tipton got within 5-4 only to see Mid-Prairie stretch the lead to 6-4. Tipton came from behind late with a single run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to grab a 7-6 win. Adam Schrock and Derek Rich each went two for four with a run scored. Adam Schrock took the loss in relief going one inning, giving up two hits, six runs, five of which were earned.

Mid-Prairie rebounded in game two with an 8-5 win. Tipton took a 1-0 lead in the first, Mid-Prairie took a 2-1 advantage in the second only to see the Tigers score four times in the third to go up 5-2. The Golden Hawks big frame came in the fifth where they put up five runs and would coast to the win. The Hawks were led by Derek Rich who was two for four with two runs scored and three RBI. Jacob Leonard got the win in relief going two innings, giving up two hits, walking three and striking out four. The Golden Hawks are now 6-4 on the year and will take on Cascade tonight.
