Rain swept across Iowa last week, slowing planting progress. According to State Climatologist Harry Hillaker, weekly rain totals ranged from 0.4 inches in Maquoketa to just over six inches in Atlantic. Last week Washington received 1.57 inches of precipitation. Iowa’s topsoil moisture is rated at 97% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is also 97% adequate to surplus. In southeast Iowa, topsoil moisture is 75% adequate and 20% surplus, while subsoil is 75% adequate and 19% surplus.
