At a Highland school board meeting earlier in May, a decision was made to retain middle school principal Joel Diederichs. As it turns out, the principal decided the job wasn’t for him after all, as he tendered his resignation which was approved at the May 23rd school board meeting. Diederichs, who also served as athletic director and transportation director, decided to take the principal position at Durant High School. Highland school board member Rachel Longbine said, “He is leaving us due to accepting another job closer to home and with that we are sad, but wish him the best for his future.”
