The games will begin with a torch being run around Washington’s Central Park Friday for this year’s Olympic-themed Kidzfest. The annual event that brings hundreds of kids and their families to downtown Washington is held by Washington County Hospital and Clinics. April Cuddeback with WCHC explains the event is their annual youth health and wellness fair where they promote activity for children in Washington and the surrounding areas.

This year, WCHC held a writing contest for third, fourth and fifth grade students and the winner from each grade will get to run their torch on one side of the square and then Ann Williams, a former Olympic torch runner, will anchor the event. For more information listen to Tuesday’s Washington Page on KCII. Join KCII’s Big Red Radio in the square for Kidzfest from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
