The Washington County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday in regular session and discuss and consider a resolution regarding the local match for a pre-disaster mitigation grant program. At their last meeting, Washington and Keokuk Counties Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith explained it is a $30,000 grant to update the existing pre-disaster plan and there needs to be a 25% local match. Smith shared he recommends an in-kind match in the form of time of county employees while working on the document, however the resolution from the grant agency states a cash match. The plan will also add the cities of Riverside and Wellman to the county’s overall plan.

In addition, the supervisors will hear about personnel change requests for communications and the conservation department, as well as quarterly reports from the sheriff’s office and mental health and disability services at their meeting Tuesday, which begins at 9:30 a.m.
