A bridge on G38 in Washington County is set to close tomorrow so crews can begin the process of replacing it. The bridge is over Dutch Creek east of Elm Avenue. The bridge will close beginning Monday, April 11, and construction will likely continue until late fall. Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington was awarded the project at a cost of over $937,000. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius says the Highway Bridge Program and Farm to Market construction dollars will be used to pay for the project. He adds that his office realizes the closure will be inconvenient, but that the project will replace an older bridge and eliminate the need to post a weight restriction, ultimately making it easier for traffic to flow through the area. Detours will be in place.
