In four days, Main Street Washington raised $1,500, but another $18,500 is needed to keep the non-profit’s doors open. Director of Main Street Washington Sarah Sadrakula shares they’re in a fundraising emergency. Usually they receive $35,000 to $40,000 in pledges from area businesses, but this year only about half of that came in. They’re now in emergency funds. I

n total, the non-profit operates on about $84,000 annually. If funds aren’t raised, they could zero out their bank account and close their doors. Main Street Washington holds programs for businesses, a free design service for architectural renderings for downtown buildings, as well as community events like the SNOW lighted parade, Santa’s House, and fashion week.

A crowd-funding website has been established to collect funds or donations can be dropped off at their office in downtown Washington. For more information listen to today’s Washington Page with Sadrakula.
