The postseason awards are continuing to pile up for Washington senior guard Derek Anding. The leading scorer of the Southeast Conference has been named to the Class 3A Substate 5 basketball team.

Anding’s 439 points scored this season was 42 more than any other member of the Southeast Conference, and 185 more than any other Demon player. He scored 20 or more points in 12 of his team’s final 20 games. The Demons posted a 4-8 record when Anding scored 20 or more points.

Anding posted a game-high 30 points, including converting 11 free throw attempts, in a 75-71 loss to Clear Creek Amana in the district semifinal game.

Anding is undecided on a college choice for the fall, but wants to play basketball next winter. The Demons ended their recent season 7-16 overall, a one-win improvement from last year.
