A seven-win improvement for the Lone Tree Lions girls’ basketball team (15-8 overall) can be attributed to the team’s upgraded defense. In his second season as head coach, Jonathan Harshman helped drop the Lady Lions’ scoring defense from 43.6 points last season to 37.3 points this year.

Lone Tree held their opponents under 40 points in 14 of 23 games this year, winning 13 of those contests. The Lady Lions held 10 teams under 40 points last season, earning seven victories.

Juniors Elena Sieverding and Madison Forbes were two of the nine players named to the SEISC first team all-conference squad. Sieverding was arguably one of the best defensive players for the Lions this season. Her 63 steals ranks first on the team, and her 13 blocks was four more than anyone else on the Lion’s squad. She also ranked second in scoring (198), rebounds (114), and assists (36).

Forbes was the top offensive player for the Lions this season, scoring a team-best 291 points. She also ranked second on the team in steals (55) and third in rebounds (95).

Senior Morgyn Edwards and sophomore Riley Warson represent Lone Tree as honorable mention selections.

The Lady Lions ended the season with a 15-8 record. Lone Tree loses Edwards and Derik Chandler to graduation.
