The Lone Tree Lady Lion basketball team asserted themselves early and pounded Iowa Mennonite School in the first round of girls class 1A regional playoff action Tuesday night in Lone Tree with a 62-27 win.

Lone Tree scored seven of the games first nine points to open a 7-2 lead. From there the Lions went on a 10-2 run, late first quarter to early portions of the second, holding an 11-4 advantage after one period. Midway through the second Lone Tree went on their third scoring burst of the night putting together a 14-5 run and opening up a 35-13 lead at the half.

In the third quarter the two teams played evenly, each scoring 11 points, as IMS found offense from Rachel Miller and her seven points in the frame. Lone Tree put the exclamation point on the win by finishing the game on a 14-3 run that lasted the entire fourth quarter.

Lone Tree was led on the night by Maddie Forbes and her game high 18 points. Lone Tree also had Morgyn Edwards in double figures with 12 and Elena Sieverding finish the game with 11. Iowa Mennonite was led on the night by Rachel Miller and her 15 points. With the win Lone Tree improves to 15-7 on the year and advances to the regional quarterfinal round of the class 1A playoffs Tuesday night at Lone Tree High School. The Lady Lions will match up with Easton Valley who was a 34-25 winner over Midland, Wyoming. IMS ends their season at 1-19.
