The plan to build a statue of Captain James T. Kirk in Riverside gained momentum at the February 2nd Riverside City Council meeting. Riverside Mayor Allen Schneider says, the council voted to donate $5,000 to the project from the city’s hotel/motel fund and hopes the project can be completed by Trekfest this summer. Riverside Area Community Club President Ken McCracken says, the project will cost up to $40,000 and will take about six months to complete. The 32nd Annual Trekfest will take place June 24th and 25th in Riverside.
