The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams split a Saturday doubleheader with Durant in Wellman.

The No. 15 ranked in class 3A Mid-Prairie girls, fell to the No. 15 ranked in 2A Durant Wildcats by a 45-41 count. Durant held an 8-6 lead after a first quarter dominated by defense. The Golden Hawks erased that slim lead to tie the game at 19 going into the half. Durant again used defense to build an advantage in the third quarter, holding Mid-Prairie to just seven points the Wildcats built a 31-26 lead going to the final period. Things stayed tight in the fourth but Mid-Prairie was unable to get a lead, dropping the game to the Wildcats by four. The Golden Hawks were led by Addison Rath with 15 points. With the loss Mid-Prairie falls to 9-8 overall.

In the boys game Mid-Prairie scored their first win of the season, beating Durant 55-50 in overtime. The Golden Hawks came out of the gate on a 14-5 run that lasted the entire first quarter, building a nine point lead. The Hawks continued to control the action leading 27-17 at the half. In the second half Durant made their run, cutting the Mid-Prairie lead to 36-30 going to the fourth quarter. In the final frame Durant continued their push, outscoring the Golden Hawks 16-10 in the quarter to force overtime. In the extra period, Mid-Prairie allowed just four Durant points to secure the win. The Golden Hawks were led by 17 points from Nolan Faselt, Ben Stone added 11. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 1-16 on the year, they host West Liberty on Tuesday night.
