RAGBRAI will make an overnight stop in Washington this summer. RAGBRAI is The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, and this is it’s 43rd year. The last time the bike ride with thousands of riders stayed the night in Washington was in 2000. Washington Chamber of Commerce Director Michelle Redlinger told KCII News at the time of the application, that the potential impact for a host community is about $3.5 million in a 24 hour period. This year’s event will be held July 24-30 and will start in Glenwood and have stops overnight in Shenandoah, Creston, Leon, Centerville, Ottumwa and end in Muscatine.
