On Tuesday President Barack Obama took executive action to curb gun violence in the United States. State Representative Jarad Klein of Keota, tells KCII News, he finds the President’s plan troublesome and seems to be part of a recurring theme of politics these days in terms of executive branch over-reaching into things that should be handled by the legislative branch.

State Senator Rich Taylor of Mt. Pleasant had a different take, saying while he hasn’t read everything Obama put into place, he applauds the action which he hopes will keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally ill.

Obama is seeking an additional $500 million dollars for mental health care, and wants the FBI to hire additional personnel so background checks can be run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The plan also seeks to clarify that people selling guns on the internet are still required to conduct background checks on buyers.
