The Mid-Prairie wrestling team puts its unbeaten conference mark on the line Monday night when they travel to Iowa City.
The Golden Hawks will participate in a River Valley Conference triangular with Tipton and Iowa City Regina tonight. Mid-Prairie entered the Christmas break with a 6-1 overall record, and a 4-0 mark in conference duals. The Golden Hawks have four wrestlers ranked in the top 10 in the state including Duncan McCain at 120lbs, Cameron Tolander at 182lbs, Visouth Peterschmidt at 195lbs and Levi Duwa at 220lbs.
The Tipton Tigers enter tonight’s action with a 1-3 overall record. The Tigers are also 1-3 in the River Valley Conference. Tipton has one ranked wrestler on the roster as Jordan Challis checks in at No. 4 in the state in class 1A at 195lbs. A year ago Mid-Prairie knocked off the Tigers 50-24 in Wellman.
The Iowa City Regina Regals enter tonight’s action with a 2-1 overall record, and a 1-1 mark in conference. The Regals have one ranked wrestler in the lineup, heavyweight Jared Brinkman is currently number one in the state in class 1A. Last season Mid-Prairie knocked off the Regals in Wellman 42-36.
Action begins tonight at six at Iowa City Regina High School.
