The second half of the season begins this afternoon for the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (2-5 overall). The Demons open up the new year hosting the 5A Burlington Greyhounds (1-7 overall).

Washington concluded the first half of the season in Marion on December 22, falling 65-44 to the Indians. Senior Addie Pacha has been productive during the first seven games of her final high school basketball season. Pacha leads the Demons in points scored (60), rebounds (44), and blocks (9). Senior guard Morgan Kimball tops Washington in assists (17) and steals (16).

Burlington has recorded one win in the first eight games of this year. Sophomore Terria Baker is one of the Greyhounds’ notable players. She leads the squad in points scored (77), rebounds (66), and assists (15).

These teams played two similar opponents during the first half of the season. Washington and Burlington each won their non-conference meetings with the Sigourney Savages (4-5 overall). Washington came away with a 65-44 triumph, while Burlington defeated the Savages, 59-47. Both teams also faced the No. 7 Keokuk Chiefs (7-1 overall), each losing by 17 or more points.
