A trio of seniors for the Winfield-Mount Union boys’ basketball team (5-3 overall) are propelling the Wolves in early season play.
Through eight games this season, Zach Davis, Sam Jennings, and Garrett Baker have combine to score 378 of the Wolves’ 473 points. All three are among the top five scorers in the league with Davis leading the entire conference with 135 points, an average of 16.9 points per game. Jennings is second in the league with 127, while Baker is fifth in the association with 116 points scored.
Baker was the best rebounder in the SEISC North through the month of December, grabbing down 75 boards, including 23 offensive. He recorded eight or more rebounds in five games this year, and had 10 or more rebounds in three contests. Jennings recorded the second most rebounds in the conference, bringing down 60. The two account for 55 percent of the squad’s rebounds.
W-MU finished the first half on a two game skid, dropping their overall record to 5-3. The Wolves return to the floor January 2, hosting the New London Tigers (4-3 overall) in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference cross over game.
