Flu activity is still minimal in Iowa at this time. The spread of the flu in Iowa is local, one of five states above sporadic activity. There have been three influenza-associated deaths in the state. One school in the state, in Montgomery County, reported 10 percent or greater absence due to illness. Lynn Fisher with Washington County Public Health reminds people to get an annual flu vaccine. She adds it takes about two weeks for the immunity to build up in someone’s system.
