A hog shed caught fire near Wellman Tuesday night and three area fire departments responded to the scene. At approximately 9:51 p.m. the fire was reported at 1494 Ginkgo Avenue, about two miles south of Wellman. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the hog building belongs to Brenneman Pork.

Wellman Fire Department, Keota Fire Department, and Kalona Fire Department helped extinguish the fire, Wellman QRS, Washington Rescue, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel and Washington County Ambulance also responded to the scene. Alliant Energy was also notified.
