One week from today, the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team will hit the floor for the first time in regular season action. The Demons will welcome the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets to Washington High School for the season opener for both schools.

Washington won last year’s meeting, 53-47, in Eddyville. Senior Morgan Kimball scored a season-high 23 points, including making 9-10 free throw attempts.

Demon girls basketball coach Jordan Bentley said this week the team will get several opportunities at live scrimmages in preparation for the season opener. They participated in a four team scrimmage at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School on Saturday. Washington will participate in Mid-Prairie’s Jamboree on Thursday, and host the WACO Warriors in a scrimmage Friday evening.

The season tips off next Monday for the Washington Demons as they play host to the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets. Live play-by-play coverage from Washington High School begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 7 p.m. on KCII.
