The Lone Tree Lions bowed out in the first round of the class A Iowa High School football playoffs on Wednesday night, falling to Lisbon 35-14.
Lone Tree took a lead early in the contest, holding a 14-6 advantage going into the halftime break. The Lisbon halftime adjustments were too much for Lone Tree to stop as Lisbon rolled up 29 straight points, for the come from behind win. Lone Tree had a hard time getting much going on the ground in the game. Drake Hotz finished as the leading rusher with seven carries for 70 yards and a touchdown on a 35 yard scamper. Jared Hudson was held to 35 yards on nine carries. Lone Tree’s other score came on a big play through the air as Caleb Christian connected with Jovonte Squires for a touchdown from 53 yards out. Lisbon got a big game on the ground from Jack Butteris with 19 carries for 101 yards and a score. Lisbon outgained Lone Tree 334-139 on the ground in the win. With the loss, Lone Tree ends their season at 6-4. Lisbon improves to 8-2, advancing to the second round of the playoffs on Monday night where they will meet No. 1 BGM, Brooklyn.
