Area children take part in last year’s trick-or-treat around the square.
With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, law enforcement officials are urging people to be extra cautious. Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says with many adults attending Halloween parties with the day landing on a weekend, he urges party goers to be careful.
Dunbar says those trick-or-treating should be careful as well. He urges parents to have their children wear light colored clothing, or at least have some reflective material on somewhere, to make it easier for drivers to see them.
Not everyone is collecting the treats on Saturday. Kalona has trick-or-treat tonight, while Keota will hold their’s tomorrow night from 5 to 7 p.m. The ghosts and goblins will be out on Halloween in several communities, in Washington the time set aside is 6:30 to 9 p.m. , in Riverside from 6 to 8 p.m., in Wellman the candy collectors will be out from 5 to 7 p.m., and in Wayland the time set aside is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
