A team who isn’t lacking confidence entering the high school football playoffs this week is the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (6-3 overall; 5-1 Class 1A District 5). The Cobras enter the postseason on a season-long four game winning streak, clinching hosting rights in the first round of the playoffs with a 26-0 shutout victory over West Marshall.

Cobra senior running back Peyton Crawford won the district’s regular season rushing title, amassing 1448 yards and 22 touchdowns in the regular season. Jacob Wichencamp has stepped in for the injured Nate Sieren and has collected 408 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

The Cobras are set to host the Hudson Pirates (7-2 overall; 5-2 Class 1A District 4) in tomorrow’s first round. The Pirates lost a defensive battle with South Winneshiek, 14-12 to fall into the third seed.
