The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team wrapped up their season Monday night in the first round of regionals, falling to perennial power Mediapolis.
But the Golden Hawks did not go quietly. The Bullettes eliminated Mid-Prairie in five games by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-10. The Golden Hawks were led in the match by Jaedynn Evans with 15 kills. Emily Cayton added 14, Jazmyne Jones 12 and Ali Butters 11. Clarice Murphy dished out 26 assists to lead the Hawks, Sami Miller had 23. The Golden Hawk defense was led by Evans with 27 digs, Cayton had 22 and Amanda Miller had 19. With the loss Mid-Prairie ends their season at 15-16 for the year. With the win Mediapolis advances to the regional semifinals Thursday and will match up with the No. 1 team in class 3A, the West Liberty Comets. The Comets breezed through round one with a straight set sweep of the Solon Spartans Monday.
