The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for the KCII-listening area Monday due to dangerous fire conditions. Strong winds with warm temperatures and low relative humidity, as well as dry fuels led to the warning being issued.

Multiple agencies responded to a fully engulfed barn and field fire in the 2700 grid of 188th Street, northeast of Washington, Monday morning. Washington Fire, Ainsworth Fire, Riverside Fire, Kalona Fire and Crawfordsville Fire departments were all called to the scene to help battle the blaze. In addition, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Ambulance and Washingotn County Sheriff’s personnel responded to the scene.

Shortly after 10 a.m., Crawfordsville Fire Department responded to a four-wheeler on fire on Underwood Avenue. The harvested bean field nearby also caught on fire.

Riverside Fire Department was paged out to another fire about 1:50 p.m. to assist Lone Tree Fire Department with 10 to 15 acres of corn on fire. A tanker truck from Kalona was also dispatched to the scene.
