The Iowa Mennonite School cross country team traveled to Fairfield Thursday night for Pekin’s Waterworks Classic.

The IMS boys had all three runners finish in the top 40 led by Levi Geyer, in his first race since the IMS Early Bird that kicked off the season six weeks ago. Geyer crossed the finish line in 18:14, taking 11th place overall. Other finishers for IMS included Jim Wang in 29th with a time of 21:34 and Jacob Boller 33rd in 22:33. Ryan Millikin of Pekin was the individual champion with his time of 16:23.

In the girls competition Calli Shaw finished fourth in the junior varsity race with her time of 23:09. Two IMS runners participated in the varsity race led by Mackenzie Gutierrez in 15th with a time of 24:06 and Rachel Geyer in 19th with a time of 25:38. Gwynne Wright of Pekin was the top individual in the girls race with her time of 18:38.

The IMS boys and girls cross country teams will next be in action on Thursday when they travel to Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids for the class 1A state qualifying meet. Race time is set for 3PM.
