Free English as a Second Language classes in Washington will kick off tomorrow with registration. The Kirkwood Washington Regional Center holds the classes that work to improve students’ reading, writing and speaking skills. Tera Pickens, director of the center, says the class is open to anyone over the age of 16 and it is eight weeks long.
The class will begin meeting Monday, but tomorrow’s registration helps the program administrators know the current skills of the students as there are two levels for the course. Pickens says people take the courses for a variety of reasons, from wanting to advance in the workforce, to going back to school, to reading to their children at bedtime.
Thursday’s sign up is at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center beginning at 6 p.m.
