A Columbus Junction man is headed to prison for a total of 100 years, after entering a guilty plea to a murder charge.
Twenty-one-year-old Oscar Jimenez entered the guilty plea to a reduced charge of second degree murder, and a charge of multiple acts of child endangerment. He had originally been charged with first degree murder in the case.
Jimenez was charged in connection with the death of his four-month-old child Marleen, that occurred in January of this year. The little girl had suffered severe head trauma and died from those injuries a few days after being transported to the hospital.
Jimenez was sentenced to 50 years in prison on each count, with the two sentences to be served consecutively. He will be eligible for parole after serving 35 years of his sentence.
