Iowa Mennonite School Cross Country hosted a home meet Monday night at the Wellman Golf Course.
On the boys side of the event, Mid-Prairie took home the team championship with their score of 37 points, besting second place Williamsburg by 13. The Hawks were led individually by Peyton Miller who finished runner up, the sophomore posted a time of 17:17.27. Other Mid-Prairie finishers included Floyd Evans in third, Ryan Errthum fifth, Andrew Schwartz 11th, Ben Stone 16th, Marshal Teets 22nd, and Quinn Schmidt 26th.
The second best area team finish came from the Washington Demons who took seventh in the 11 team field with their total of 216 points. Top finisher for Washington was Brennan Horak, the sophomore finished in 24th place with a time of 18:44.51. Other Demon finishers included Jacob Van Osdol in 29th, Owen Horak 38th, Ben Schiefer 58th, Ben Loy 70th, Kiowa Keith 71st and Austin Stalder 73rd.
Iowa Mennonite School did not have enough runners to post a boys team varsity score. IMS was led by Jim Wang in 68th with his time of 21:47.32. Iowa Mennonite had two other boys runners participae in the JV race with Jacob Boller taking 23rd in 21:28 and Micah Miller finishing in 53rd. WACO also participated but did not have enough runners to post a boys team score. The Warriors were led by Joe Edeker who placed 67th with a time of 21:38.30. Trevor Patagos finished 76th for the Warriors.
On the girls side of the event the top area finish came from the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks who took third as a team with their score of 78 points. Williamsburg won the girls team title with their score of 49 points. Top finisher for the Hawks was Anna Hostetler, taking second overall with a time of 20:22.07. Other Mid-Prairie finishers included Hannah Van Roekel 17th, Greta Schmidt 18th, Kessa Jones 20th, Maddi Zahradnek 21st, Abby Tornow 23rd, and Shelby Zahradnek 55th.
The Washington Demons had the next best area team finish. Washington placed sixth out of nine teams with their overall score of 114. The Demons were led on the night by Emme Keith who took 10th overall with her time of 21:20.07. Other Washington finishers included Brooke Stout 14th, Molly Sparks 26th, Meredith Raber 29th, Maggie Voss 36th, and Peyton Cuddeback 49th.
Iowa Mennonite School had three girls runners participate in the JV race. They were led by Calli Shaw and her ninth place finish in 24:23. Other IMS runners included Mackenzie Gutierrez in 11th and Rachel Geyer 30th.
The WACO Warriors had one participant on the girls side Cheyenne Sedlacek finished in 41st place with a time of 24:20.87. Next up for Iowa Mennonite School and WACO is the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet at Columbus on Thursday. Mid-Prairie will next be in action Saturday at the North Linn Invitational. Washington will next be on the course October 15th when they host the Southeast Conference meet.
