Work continues on several projects during the expansion in the Mid-Prairie Schools. The work is being funded by the passage of a $10,640,000 bond issue that was approved by voters on April 1st in 2014.

Superintendent Mark Schneider says air conditioning has been installed at Washington Township School, while work continues at the other buildings in the district. A wing is being added to the middle school to create more space for the Home School Assistance Program, work has also started to add classrooms to the Kalona Elementary School.

The improvements in the district also include the construction of a combined central office and alternative learning center at the high school. You can hear part one of our conversation with Schneider during today’s In Touch With Southeast Iowa program during the midday and evening magazines.
