A ribbon cutting for the new runway at the Washington Municipal Airport was held last night. Work at the airport was paid for in part by a $2 million federal aviation grant and began in April of 2014. Mike Roe with the Airport Commission, told KCII News the work was done in part to increase safety at the facility. In addition to the tarmac, a new electrical system was installed. The ribbon cutting was held by the Washington Chamber of Commerce.
