The senior signal caller for the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves football team (2-0 overall) is finding early season success. The Wolves’ 92 points scored in victories over Iowa Valley and Wapello are the second most in Class A football, one point behind Westwood Community Schools for the state lead.

A factor in W-MU’s offensive success has been progression of senior Kolt Rossiter at quarterback. Rossiter leads Class A District 6 in passing yards (342), completion percentage (71.4), passing touchdowns (5), and his 90 yard touchdown pass to Zach Davis versus Iowa Valley is the longest touchdown thrown in the district.

Last season Rossiter finished the year with 1046 passing yards, throwing 15 touchdowns and 15 interceptions during W-MU’s 5-5 campaign.

The Wolves’ rushing attack has been just as effective, led by senior Darren Hunter. Hunter is second in District 6 in rushing yards with 254. His six rushing touchdowns top the district after two weeks of play.

The Wolves are back on the road this week, putting their undefeated record up against the Cardinal Comets (0-2 overall). W-MU downed Cardinal, 48-8, last season in Winfield.
