Four members of this year’s Wapello softball team will be furthering their softball careers at the college level.

Two of the Wapello grads will remain teammates at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Both Ashley Hahnbaum and Kristen Keen will be playing softball in Fort Dodge.

Hahnbaum batted .310 for the Arrows, while slugging seven home runs, and amassing a .631 slugging percentage. She was also excellent defensively, with a .917 fielding percentage. Keen, who is also headed to Iowa Central, hit for a .293 average while leading the team with 25 RBIs.

Allison Klenk, who led the Wapello pitching staff will be throwing pitches for Muscatine Community College. Klenk finished the season with a 19-4 record, with an ERA of just 1.63, while holding opponent batters to a .146 average. Klenk struck out 169 on the season. She also contributed a .254 batting average and made no errors in the field.

Josie Carpenter will be playing at Marshalltown Community College. she led the Arrows with a .378 batting average with a .544 slugging percentage.

The four seniors led Wapello to a 24-7 record on the season, before being knocked out of post-season play by eventual state champion Iowa City Regina.
