A trio of Highland Huskies baseball players (17-9) earned high honors from the coaches of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North. Senior Ben Bean, senior Adam Schwarz, and sophomore Billy Burton were all named first team all-conference athletes.
Bean made the squad as an outfielder. Bean led the Huskies in batting average (.358), slugging percentage (.556), total hits (29), doubles (8), and tied for the team lead in triples (1) and home runs (2).
Schwarz joins Bean on the first team all-conference squad as a utility player. Scharz finished the season third on the team in hits (24), fifth in batting average (.296), and fifth in runs batted in (16).
Burton rounds out the Huskies’ first team all conference choices as an infielder. Offensively, Burton led the team in runs batted in (26), runs scored (33), and stolen bases (29). Defensively, he led the Huskies in assists (33).
Senior Jake Yeggy and sophomore Chase Rath were named to the all-conference second team. Yeggy was named to the squad as an infielder, while Rath made the team as a pitcher.
Senior Lane Welsh and sophomore Caleb Brase are all-conference honorable mention selections.
Highland’s season closed with an 17-9 overall record, finishing third in the SEISC North standings with a 12-6 record.
