Iowa’s junior United States senator is visiting Washington County tomorrow.
Senator Joni Ernst will be at English River Outfitters located next to Sockum Ridge Park from 11 a.m. to noon to take a tour and meet with veterans who have gone through the non-profit’s program. Through outdoor activities such as fishing and camping, the organization sets out to help veterans dealing with mental and physical injuries adjust to life back home.
Chuck Geertz is a veteran and the non-profit’s founder and president. He says he’s excited for the senator’s visit, calling it a milestone for his organization. Geertz invited Ernst to visit when he met her at a local VFW a few months ago.
