Three months ago nearly half of Iowa was considered abnormally dry. Now, Iowa’s moisture levels are up.

Only two percent of Southeast Iowa is short on topsoil moisture and just one percent is short on subsoil moisture. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 43 percent of the region has surplus topsoil moisture levels and 55 percent is adequate. Sixty percent of Southeast Iowa has adequate subsoil moisture and 32 percent is surplus. Southeast Iowa’s moisture levels are higher than the state’s average.
