The Mid-Prairie softball team (22-12) put on a dominating performance last night in their opening game in the Class 3A state tournament winning over Central Lee 12-0 in five innings.
The Golden Hawks blew the game wide open, scoring five times in the third inning and another six in the fifth to end the game by the 10 run rule. Mid-Prairie was led by three-run home runs by Amber Krall and Ali Naylor.
It was a powerful offensive performance for Mid-Prairie last night as they pounded out 13 hits to score their 12 runs. Five Mid-Prairie batters had multi-hit games last night. Taylor Kurtz threw the first four innings to pick up the win, while Emma Troyer pitched the fifth inning.
The 12th ranked Golden Hawks will advance to the second round of the regional tournament tomorrow night to take on the top ranked team in the state in Solon. Mid-Prairie will go into to tomorrow night’s matchup with a 22-12 record, while Solon stands 37-3.
