Wednesday afternoon Governor Terry Branstad visited ACH Foam Technologies in Washington. The company has eight locations across the country. ACH makes products from polystyrene plastic and expanded polystyrene, which is described on the company’s website as a “thermoplatsic, closed-cell, lightweight, rigid-foam plastic.”
Branstad toured the facility and company leaders explained ACH Foam recycles more than 1.3 million pounds at the local facility. They added would like to see applications to renew permits for the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Natural Resources streamlined. They also discussed how the Washington site has increased its workforce from 35 employees in 2010 to 65 this year, while more than doubling the building’s square foot space.
