It’s still unclear how the man whose body was pulled from the Iowa River last week died. The Johnson County Deputy Medical Examiner has identified the deceased as 41-year-old Shawn L. Warrington. The examination of Warrington’s body continues as experts try to determine what led to his death. According to the sheriff’s office, he was homeless and last lived in the Iowa City area and has past addresses in Davenport and Galesburg, Illinois.

The sheriff’s office and Hills Fire Department found the body while searching the river last Wednesday. The search was prompted by campers fishing north of the Hills Access who reported seeing a pair of pants and boots in a brush pile.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, but the sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation into the death.
