A festival celebrating a historic bridge and the history of Columbus Junction is entering its second year. Business owner Melanie DeVore spearheaded the effort to start the Swinging Bridge Festival last year. She says a shuttle, which will leave from the senior center on Walnut Street, will take individuals to the events scattered throughout the city. Those who attend will leave with a better understanding of the area’s history. She says there will be tours of the Louisa Oil Gasoline Museum in Columbus City and presentations on the history of the local railroad and the city’s old tomato canning factory.
