Local tractor owners are traveling along a stretch of Highway 78 this morning. The first Ding Darling Highway Tractor Ride is being held as part of the 105th annual Brighton Whoopee Days. The tractors are lining up in Brighton at 7a.m. and will leave for Lake Darling State Park via Ding Darling Highway at 7:30 a.m. The Iowa Department of Transportation approved the proposal to give the highway from Hedrick to Highway 218 the name roughly a year ago, a project the Brighton Chamber of Commerce had been on working since 2013. KCII Radio will be broadcasting live from Whoopee Days throughout the morning and afternoon.
