One week after capturing the third state title in program history, the head coach of the Washington Demon girls’ golf team has been tabbed with a prestigious honor. The Iowa Girls Coaches Association released their 2015 All-District Golf Teams, including announcing the state coaches of the year in each class.
Washington girls’ golf coach Leonard Kull was picked by the IGCA as the Class 4A Coach of the Year. Three of Kull’s golfers were selected to the IGCA Class 4A District 3 team, including freshman Sarah Nacos, junior Deanna Peiffer, and senior Sarah Waite.
The Demon girls’ golf team swept their postseason tournament run on their way to winning the third state title in program history. Washington won the Southeast Conference championship by 18 strokes, the Class 4A Regional 4 tournament by 56 strokes, and the Class 4A State tournament by 24 strokes.
Kull has been the head girls’ golf coach at Washington Community Schools for 35 years, winning back to back state titles in 2007 and 2008.
