At this time last year contractors were still installing equipment and landscaping at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center and over 300 people toured the building during Washington’s 175th Celebration. Tera Pickens, director of the center, reflects on the first year in the new facility, sharing it was a smooth transition, including the addition of the concurrent courses for area high school students. Pickens explains 156 students enrolled in concurrent credit courses last fall and it has increased to about 266 registered for the upcoming fall term.

There’s been an increase in traditional students also, including a 35% increase in students for this summer term and a 26% increase in credit hours registered. Pickens says they believe the trend will continue into the fall semester.
